Extended Practice - The Beginning

I had not fully considered what my own personal project was going to be in extended practice for a while whilst Context of Practice was under way. I always knew that my main focus was going to be outsourcing for other people's projects as a Storyboard artist. I was also aware that a lot of my work would be pre production heavy, so I would not have the work after a certain while.

Therefore I decided to start brainstorming some ideas so that after my outsourcing was finished, I would not have to go through all of the stages of pre production, and I could really hit the ground running. I had already asked 2 people to help me with designs, as character design is not my specialism and therefore I decided it best not to take all the time to do that stage as well.

I started with mood boards, to get some quick ideas down and gather pictures to help me visualise my ideas quickly. Here are my mood boards:

In with these mood boards I included a quick story overview for each one, just so that I could better understand how the story would play out. My main goal was for it to be achievable, as I would not be starting it until after my outsourcing was finished. The idea that I favoured the most, ended up being Idea 2, as I felt a fight scene taking up most of the animation was much more realistic as it included much less of a story to establish first. It would also allow for a lot of camera movements and fast paced animation, which means I could be a lot more rough with it, as opposed to spending a lot of time on slow movements.
